Obagi Professional-C Serum infuses skin with L-ascorbic acid, a form of vitamin C used for topical application. In addition to its anti-aging benefits, topical vitamin C is beneficial in helping to protect skin from damage—especially from the sun's UVA and UVB rays. Obagi professional C serum is designed to penetrate deep into the skin, providing effective antioxidant protection from UV damage as it reduces hyperpigmentation and encourages the production of collagen and elastin fibres. Another ingredient in the serum, hyaluronic acid, binds moisture to the skin to prevent dryness. Obagi Vitamin C serum comes in 10%, 15% and 20% concentrations. It can also improve the effectiveness of retinol containing skin products such as tretinoin.
It is normal to experience some itching, redness and peeling for a few days when the product is first introduced to the skin. Reactions vary depending on skin type and sensitivity. To minimise side effects, start on a lower dose of Vitamin C (usually 10%).
